The Beacon combines high-street shopping, places to eat and an eight-screen cinema in Eastbourne town centre. Marks & Spencer, Primark, H&M and Next are among its retailers, with Eastbourne station a short walk from the Terminus Road entrance.

Formerly the Arndale Centre, it became The Beacon in 2018 as part of its redevelopment. This guide for visitors covers the shop directory, entertainment options, opening hours, transport, parking and facilities.

Before you go

Individual shops, restaurants and the cinema have their own opening hours. Check the business you want to visit before making a special journey.

Which shops are at The Beacon?

The table includes all 67 entries in The Beacon’s official Shop directory at the time of checking. Search by shop name or category, or select a name to open its individual listing.

These are directory entries rather than 67 separate retail premises. They include services and concessions, such as GAME inside Sports Direct and the Rolex showroom at Brufords. The centre lists restaurants and cafés separately.

MINISO is included in the centre’s directory, but its individual page still says it is opening soon. Confirm its opening status with The Beacon before travelling specifically to visit it.

The Beacon opening hours

The centre’s published retail hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday. Individual stores may have shorter hours or Sunday browsing periods. Bank holidays and seasonal opening times can differ.

Food, coffee and the cinema

The food and drink directory includes Costa, Jamaica Blue, Muffin Break, Nando’s, McDonald’s and Noodlebar. Check the individual venue’s hours for an evening meal, as they differ from the main shopping hours.

Cineworld Eastbourne at The Beacon has eight screens and says it opens 30 minutes before its first screening. Film times vary daily. Drivers staying for an evening film should note the lift-access arrangements below.

How to get to The Beacon

Address: 57 The Beacon, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 3NW. The main shopping entrances are in the town centre, including on Terminus Road. The car-park entrance is on Longstone Road.

Open The Beacon in Google Maps for directions. The map marks the shopping centre. Drivers should follow signs to the Longstone Road car-park entrance.

By train or on foot

The Beacon centre estimates a three-minute walk from Eastbourne railway station. Its official walking directions use the station’s left-hand “Cash Point Exit”, then head towards the entrance on Terminus Road.

By bus or bike

The nearest bus stops are on Cornfield Road and Gildredge Road, a short walk from the centre. East Sussex County Council provides bus routes and timetables. Cycle parking is at the back of the centre on Tideswell Road.

By car

Use the Longstone Road entrance for the centre’s car park, which has a 1.8m height limit. It normally opens at 8am Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday, closing around midnight depending on the last film.

Ground-floor toilets are next to TUI, with accessible toilets next to Shades. Baby-changing facilities and a Changing Places toilet are available.
