Ethics, Fact Checking Policy and Corrections

Ethics

Sussex Guardian aims to report accurately, fairly and with care. Our writers follow the principles of the Editors’ Code of Practice. We take care to ensure that our articles, headlines and images do not mislead readers.

Fact-checking

Reporters check names, dates, figures, quotations and other factual claims before submitting their work. They identify the source of information where appropriate and seek further verification when a claim is disputed or uncertain. Editors review articles before publication and check supporting sources where needed. Headlines must accurately reflect the story.

Complaints and corrections

If you believe we have made an error or wish to complain about an article, email [email protected]. Please put “Complaint” or “Correction” in the subject line, explain your concern and include a link to the article if possible.

We will review your message, ask for further details if needed and respond as promptly as we can. If we find a significant error, we will correct it promptly and make the correction clear to readers. We aim to respond to complaints under the Editors’ Code within 28 days.
