Padel players in West Sussex have until Wednesday 4 November to enter a winter doubles league, with divisions organised by ability and matches arranged around players’ availability.
The season runs from 16 November 2026 to 17 January 2027. Entry costs £65 per pair, with court hire paid separately, and players must be at least 16.
For people who have started playing socially and want regular opponents, the competition offers a way to try league padel without committing to a fixed weekly match night.
How the winter league works
The organiser’s winter information pack welcomes men’s, women’s and mixed pairs, from beginners to advanced players. Teams are placed in divisions of six to nine pairs, with each pair playing the others in its division once.
The schedule comprises eight rounds and a catch-up week. Opponents agree when and where to play, so entrants need to be willing to contact other teams, book courts and work around each other’s diaries.
Matches consist of three sets, with two league points awarded for each set won. The third set is still played if one pair wins the first two. Players bring their own equipment and balls.
What does entry cost?
The standard £65 fee is for the team, rather than each player. The organiser also advertises a £50 loyalty rate for eligible returning players; those who played last season should follow the returning-player instructions on the entry page.
Court booking charges come on top of the entry fee and are shared with opponents. All four players agree the venue: the league does not operate from one fixed host club.
The information pack says entry fees will not be refunded after the sign-up deadline, or because players have difficulty arranging their matches. It is worth checking your partner’s availability across the Christmas period before entering.
How to enter, and what happens afterwards
One player completes the online form for both teammates, supplying their contact details and answering questions about playing level. Divisions are put together after entries close.
There is a specific process for West Sussex this season. Entries go through the website form, fixtures are arranged in division WhatsApp groups and results are submitted through Padelmates. The organiser’s general app instructions explain that West Sussex is an exception.
Players without a teammate can use the organiser’s partner-finding form. Joining an interest list does not enter a team or reserve a place.
Can under-18s take part?
Yes, from age 16. Players aged 16 or 17 must have a parent or guardian present at matches and league events, and the adult must handle communication with other teams.
