Market Place brings Waitrose, B&M and a range of shops and services together in Burgess Hill town centre. It is the practical shopping stop to look up when planning a visit, particularly if searches for the town also bring up the separate Martlets regeneration project.

The most useful detail for drivers is that the car park uses number-plate cameras and asks visitors to pay on arrival. Blue Badge holders also need to follow a registration process to qualify for the advertised free parking.

How to get to Market Place

Address: Burgess Hill, West Sussex, RH15 9NP

The centre’s visitor information estimates a five-minute walk from Burgess Hill railway station. Use the map for the final route into the shopping area, allowing longer for access needs or heavy shopping.

The centre says buses stop at its main entrance and identifies a taxi pick-up point at the west end of the car park. For a specific bus service, check the operator’s current timetable; centre opening hours do not establish when the last bus runs.

Parking prices and payment

The centre’s parking page tells drivers to pay on arrival using a payment terminal or the Twinpay app, entering the vehicle registration. Published rates are £1.10 for up to one hour, £1.60 for two, £2.60 for three and £5.20 for four. Up to ten hours costs £7.50.

Charges apply Monday to Saturday, 8am–6pm. On Sundays and bank holidays, the page advertises a £1 flat daily charge between 9am and 5pm. Check signs for the conditions applying to your stay.

Before you go

Blue Badge parking needs registration

The centre says Blue Badge holders must display a valid badge and register with Bank Park for free parking. Its instructions ask for a badge photograph and vehicle registration to be emailed to [email protected] within 48 hours of the visit. Check the official parking page for the latest procedure.

Market Place and Martlets are different places

Market Place has its own shop directory, visitor information and car-park operator. The Martlets redevelopment is a separate project involving NewRiver and Mid Sussex District Council. A news report about proposed Martlets shops or construction dates should not be treated as a change to every business in Burgess Hill.

For a particular shop, use its present address and current listing rather than a historic town-centre directory. This is especially useful where businesses have moved between shopping areas.

Planning the rest of your visit

Questions before you visit

Do all shops open at 7.30am?

No. The centre’s published access hours are not a promise that every retailer is trading. Check the shop you need.

Is parking free on Sunday?

The centre currently advertises a £1 flat daily charge during the Sunday charging period.
