A community company with a longer history

The club describes this as its 60th-anniversary pantomime, but the organisation itself is older. Its published history dates its activity to 1935. The anniversary therefore relates to its pantomime tradition, rather than the company being founded 60 years ago.

The production archive records earlier versions of Puss in Boots as well as dramas, comedies and other pantomimes. The company welcomes involvement in costumes, backstage work, front of house and performance. That community structure is part of what distinguishes this production from the separate commercial Puss in Boots in Worthing.

What is the production?

The story follows Jack and Puss after the mill is taken from Jack and the pair must find another way to make their fortunes. A fairy guardian, magical red boots and a princess lead them into a confrontation with witches and a powerful wizard.

The live ticket listing gives seven curtain times: Saturday 16 January at 4pm and 8pm; Sunday 17 January at noon and 4pm; Friday 22 January at 7.30pm; and Saturday 23 January at 4pm and 8pm.

Tickets, running time and access

Tickets are listed through the club’s official TicketSource account. Choose a specific performance and ticket category for the price and any fees.

The Academy is the performance venue. Contact the organiser for seating, access and companion-ticket arrangements rather than assuming the facilities at the club’s own theatre apply to this production.

The company describes this as its 60th anniversary pantomime in its production notice. Read the anniversary announcement.

The opening Saturday’s 4pm listing gives doors at 3.30pm, individual ticket options up to £16.26 including booking fees and a group ticket at £54.20 including fees. The listing also contains a £0 option without explaining its eligibility, so this should not be advertised as general free admission. Confirm the appropriate category and group composition with the club before comparing totals. The current announcement does not identify the principal cast or running time.
