Turners Hill’s Affinity Choir will join Paul Martin and Jem Sharples for an evening of opera favourites, musical theatre and pop at Chequer Mead.
Tenors Un Limited will be joined by a West Sussex community choir when their Great Songs show comes to East Grinstead on Wednesday 4 November.
The duo, Paul Martin and Jem Sharples, will perform at Chequer Mead Theatre at 7.30pm, with Affinity Choir from nearby Turners Hill joining the programme. Tickets are £27.
Billed as the “Rat Pack of Opera”, Tenors Un Limited combine classical singing with songs from musicals, pop standards and their own compositions, interspersed with humour and conversation with the audience.

From Nessun Dorma to Nat King Cole
The repertoire announced for the tour includes Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers’ Duet, Barcelona and From Now On from The Greatest Showman.
Other songs named by the organisers include You Raise Me Up and Nat King Cole’s L-O-V-E. Chequer Mead’s listing also highlights Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, Moon River and Martin’s own song Carry You.
The programme brings familiar opera pieces into a concert setting alongside songs from other genres. It is a varied vocal show, rather than a staged production of a single opera.
Who are Tenors Un Limited?
Martin and Sharples draw on backgrounds in opera and musical theatre. Martin is a bass-baritone who sang with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire before performing with opera companies and ensembles in Europe, Japan and the United States.
Sharples trained privately and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His theatre credits include Alex Dillingham in a national tour of Aspects of Love and Young Scrooge opposite Anthony Newley in Scrooge.
The group has been performing for more than two decades. Earlier audiences may remember a three-man line-up with Scott Ciscon, who no longer performs with the group. Its appearances have included Wembley’s FA Cup final and the Royal Albert Hall, whose archive records Tenors Un Limited performing at the Salvation Army’s 2017 Christmas concert.
Turners Hill choir joins the evening
Affinity is a contemporary community choir based in Turners Hill, led by musical director Lisa Lake. Its repertoire spans pop, rock, musical theatre and gospel.
Lake said: “We believe singing is good for the soul, lifting spirits, boosting wellbeing and creating a wonderful sense of belonging.”
She added: “We’re delighted to be supporting Tenors Un Limited and are excited to share an evening of great music with you.”
