Politics, anger and turning 40

The new show brings together public and personal sources of anxiety. Its advertised subjects include inequality, authoritarian politics and the state of political parties, with Kumar also looking at what reaching 40 means for him. The title sets up the tension: an angry response to the world, delivered by someone billing himself as a nice person.

Audiences who know Kumar through The Mash Report or Pod Save UK will recognise the political interests behind the material. The Brighton booking is for his solo touring show, giving those ideas a theatre-length setting.

From Edinburgh shows to television

Kumar’s management biography records Edinburgh Comedy Award nominations in both 2015 and 2016. His television appearances have included Taskmaster, QI and Live at the Apollo, alongside radio work on The News Quiz and his own Spotlight Tonight.

His previous touring work includes Your Power, Your Control and Nish, Don’t Kill My Vibe. This Brighton date is billed under the new show title, so anyone comparing earlier recordings with the autumn programme should check which production they are booking.
