The comedian brings her new solo show to Brighton Dome Comedy Festival, with a local connection that stretches from small comedy rooms to her new home in Hove.

Maisie Adam will perform Whatsherface at Brighton Dome’s Concert Hall on Wednesday 21 October 2026, as part of a UK tour continuing into next spring.

The show is included in Brighton Dome Comedy Festival in cahoots with Komedia, which runs from 16 to 25 October. For the Yorkshire-born comedian, who has recently spoken about moving to Hove, it is also a chance to headline one of her local venues. See our Brighton Dome Comedy Festival guide for the wider programme.

What is Whatsherface about?

Whatsherface follows Appraisal, which toured in 2024 and 2025. In a May interview with Absolutely, Adam described the new show as taking in relationships, family and friendships. She also discussed the role of audience interaction in her stand-up, with responses from the room helping to shape a performance.

That wider account of everyday life sits alongside an increasingly familiar television face. Her official biography and credits include Taskmaster, Last One Laughing UK, Live at the Apollo, QI and Have I Got News for You. Her breakthrough came with a win in the So You Think You’re Funny? competition in 2017, followed by an Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer nomination in 2018.

Football listeners may also know her from Big Kick Energy, the podcast she co-hosts with fellow comedian Suzi Ruffell. This tour gives audiences the chance to see her own extended stand-up set, beyond a panel-show appearance or podcast conversation.

Maisie Adam on making Hove home

Most Brightonians know Maisie Adam (like many comedians) lives in the trendy coastal town, but probably not where she lives unless you also are friends with the person who sold their house to her.

In a September interview with SALT Magazine, Adam described moving to Brighton in late 2017 and more recently settling in Hove. She greeted the move with a joke about crossing an unofficial local boundary: “I’ve gone to the dark side.” Her verdict on the new surroundings was practical: “I’m liking it. It is flatter.”

Her connection with the city has grown alongside her career. In the same interview, she recalled early appearances at the Rialto Theatre, followed by gigs above the Quadrant, at Komedia and in the Corn Exchange. The Concert Hall booking marks another step through the local venues where she has developed her audience.

There is a football connection too. Adam told SALT that, alongside her longstanding support for Leeds United’s men’s team, she now follows Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s team. So let’s hope to see her supporting at the new stadium.
