Brighton Dome has confirmed the cancellation of Trainspotting: The Musical, which had been due to visit its Concert Hall from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 March 2027.
The venue attributes the decision to low ticket sales across the tour and says ticket holders will receive an email about their refunds.
The Brighton performances formed part of a planned national tour following the musical’s West End premiere. The Stage reported the UK tour’s cancellation on 3 August 2026.

The musical and its planned tour
Irvine Welsh wrote the musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen McGuinness and Welsh. Caroline Jay Ranger directed and developed the production.
The adaptation brought Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, Tommy and Kelly to the musical stage, drawing on Welsh’s novel and combining new songs with familiar music. Its story follows characters dealing with addiction, poverty, violence and fractured friendships.
The London production ran at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 15 July to 5 September 2026. The proposed tour included Edinburgh, Sheffield, Manchester, Cardiff, Oxford and Glasgow, with Brighton scheduled towards the end of the run.
The production’s official website continues to describe the London engagement as the musical’s world premiere.
