Who is starring in Brighton’s Aladdin?

Courtney Act as the Genie of the Lamp and Genie of the Ring

Courtney Act won Celebrity Big Brother in 2018 and reached the final three of the sixth series of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Those two television appearances helped build the Australian performer’s international profile.

Her presenting credits include The Bi Life and Channel 4’s The Courtney Act Show. On stage, she made her West End debut as Shazza in Death Drop and played the Blue Faerie in Pinocchio. These credits are listed in her official agency biography.

The Brighton Family Panto announcement confirms that Courtney will play both Genie roles in this production. Her casting applies to the Brighton Metropole show, which is separate from Aladdin at The Hawth in Crawley.

What is the production?

Aladdin’s discovery of an enchanted lamp sets up the confrontation with Abanazar and his hopes of winning Princess Jasmine’s heart. Courtney Act’s two Genie roles give the production its headline casting.

Focus Foundation is the official charity partner. The charity says a percentage of ticket sales will support its work, alongside collections after performances.
