connor cox shoreham fc manager

Connor Cox has left his role as Shoreham FC’s first-team manager by mutual agreement, the club has announced.

In a statement published on Thursday 24 September, Shoreham said the decision followed discussions between Cox and the club, with both parties agreeing that the time was right for a change.

The club thanked him for his commitment during a difficult period at Middle Road and said a further announcement about the first-team management position would follow. It did not name a successor or caretaker manager.

It comes after the sad passing of club co-chairman Malcolm Saunders earlier in September.

Shoreham thank Cox for his contribution

Shoreham said Cox had taken charge during one of the most challenging periods in the club’s recent history, praising his professionalism and saying he had always acted with its best interests at heart.

The statement thanked him for the time, commitment and hard work he had given to the club.

“We wish Connor every success for the future and thank him for everything he has contributed to the club,” it said.

Cox took charge in November 2025

Cox stepped up from assistant manager to take charge of the first team in early November 2025, the third manager of that season after Lawrence Edwards and Josh Rondel.

He restored morale after key players departed, and despite challenges kept the club in with a chance to avoid relegation from the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division, ultimately being relegated.

Anyone who has watched the Mussels this season will know they have played well, and on most games have not had luck on their side. Key injuries in defence and late goals conceded have really made a difference.

Ultimately, Cox leaves with the Musselmen 19th in Southern Combination Football League Division One, with five points from eight matches, following one win, two draws and five defeats.

Their most recent league result was a 2–0 reversal away to Guildford City on Saturday 19 September. On Tuesday 22nd September the team were knocked out of the Sussex Senior Cup after a 4-2 defeat at home to Jarvis Brook FC, with two goals in injury time.

Shoreham are next scheduled to host Jarvis Brook on Saturday 26 September, with kick-off at 3pm. The club has not given a date for its next management announcement.
